Alongside traditional events such as tug-of-war, table tennis, badminton and a log-lifting contest, a new "Happy Life, Family Joy" competition was introduced this year.
Started in Baisha Village in 2005, the village sports meet has expanded from simple agricultural games to events held across 123 administrative villages in the city, forming a popular folk custom of "100 Villages, 10,000 People Celebrating the Chinese New Year with Sports."
